Endo-chip

The introduction of endothelialised microfluidic devices to measure interactions of circulating cells with the endothelium, offers a significant tool to study thromboinflammation and to test the efficacy of drugs targeting neutrophil–endothelial or neutrophil–platelet interaction.

Design of the endo-chip

A. Design of the Endochip

B. TNFa treated HUVEC monolayer stained for ICAM1 (green), actin (red). Nuclei are stained in blue.

C. Thrombus formation on the endothelial surface after perfusion of recalcified whole blood. Fibrin is in magenta, platelets are in green and neutrophils in red (noted with arrow).
